FINAL PROJECT

If you pay attention you can see that actually all fairytales that we have grown up with have quite dark backgrounds. Rather than creating a sweet sparkling snow white fairytale i wanted to bring out the true story of snow white. My photos go in an order, the first starting with the witched holding the apple, the second snowwhite biting it and the third her arm on the ground with the apple beside it representing the moment after she bit the poisonous apple. I edited the apple by putting a deeper red overtop and clicking multiply giving it a very deep glowing look. I also desaturated the photos and turned up the contrast making the photos faded a dark adding a very mysterious and spooky feel.

My famous photographer took photos mainly of waterfalls using a special film that was easily smudged. He would then take the photo and dip it in the water of the waterfall he photographed. To recreate this i mainly just tried to destroy a photo and make the ink bleed to create the same effect. I used rubbing alcohol and cleaning and i felt it worked really well for some photos not as well for others. It created a very worn out faded look which was exactly what i was going for.

For this photo challenges i tried to pursue a very happy vibe to my photos and tried to make that a running theme. I thought the images turned out great and showed a carefree perspective that sometimes we don't see in the world and sometimes we are blinded by all the bad things in the world we don't realize all the good things. Adding flowers and dandelions really helped give of a magical feel as well as choosing to shoot on a sunny day. I chose abby's little sister as my model because it helped show the world as a veiw from an eight year old and how adventurous and creative kids are. Lighting was a bit of a challenges and making sure to get the right balances of exposure i edited them a bit a darkened as well as tones them. For the dandelion photo i added a pink undertone to make the fairytale vibe in the photo stand out better.

For double exposure i went for a more wintery theme, using cooler tones. For the first photo i took a picture of an evergreen tree with the branches slightly dusted with snow and put it on top of a portrait of Abby outside. I love how the darkness of the photo contrast with the bright snow in the background. I think the photo portrays a theme of loneliness as the photo is quite dark and she is standing alone with a column look on her face. I think that the mood of the photo really goes well with the wintery theme as the weather is cold kind of like the feelings within the photo. For the second photo my overall goal was to create an illusion that her face was shattered.I took a picture of deciduous trees covered in snow because i felt this type of tree would be best to create a shattered look as the branches are thin and where covered in snow making them white which i think blended well with her skin. You can really see how drained her emotions and how "shattered" she is inside and out.

I found this project quite challenging as it was hard to erase the chair beneath and i should have used someone with looser clothing to cover the chair a bit more. The legs are a little but off as you can see bit i think I did a good job in portraying the theme "escape". I made Arianna grab the handle of the door to show she is trying to get away from society. I made the photo black and white to create a sort of darker depressing mood, and i chose to take this in a hallway to make it a little more mysterious.

I really enjoyed this challenge as fall is my favorite season. the colors are so distinct and beautiful and there is such a cozy feeling in the air. For the first photo I used a macro lens to really bring out the detain in Abby's eye as well as the lines in the leave. I love how the bright orange leaf complements the green in her eye and I think the two colors blend really well together. I brightened the photo a bit as well as enhanced the colors in Abby's eye as well as the leave to really pronounce the fall colors displayed. for the second i chose to do a double exposure to add more interest to the photo rather then just a person standing against a wall with leaves. I really like how you can see the contrast between the two positions . My goal in this photo was to add dimension and interest and too add emotion and feeling. I brighned the blue wall as well as darkened the photo displaying the gloomy days in fall aside from all the brigt colours a downside is all the rainy and cloudy days we have.
